The Bible does not promise us happiness.  It does promise joy.  Yes, there is a difference.  Happiness is a feeling.  Joy is a state of being.  The Greek word used in the New Testament for joy is chara and “it is used to describe a deep abiding sense of joy and gladness that is rooted in spiritual realities rather than external circumstances.  It is often associated with the presence of the Holy Spirit and the believer’s relationship with God.  It is characterized by a sense of inner peace and contentment that transcends worldly troubles.”    https://biblehub.com/greek/5479.htm

Hello.  Yes all things come back to being rooted in Christ.  I was struck by the word abiding in the definition of joy.  So I looked it up too.  Abide in the Greek is menó and it means “to remain, to abide, to stay, to continue, to dwell, to endure – conveys a sense of persistence and continuity, often implying a steadfastness or enduring presence.  New Testament used to describe the believer’s relationship with Christ, emphasizing a continual, abiding connection.” https://biblehub.com/greek/3306.htm

Our joy is in Christ.  That is how we are able to make it in chaos.  If we have that firm foundation, that anchor holding us continually then we can recognize the grace we have been given.  We can grasp the JOY that is in Jesus, our Savior, our Redeemer, our giver of good things.
