As Jesus’s public ministry/life on earth was drawing to a close there seems to be desperation…or a sense of urgency in Jesus. He had made a dent in meeting people and getting his message out there. But there were so many more souls to reach. Jesus never wavered. He remained steadfast. He never went off brand despite being constantly questioned by the religious leaders who were set on catching him in a lie or at least getting him to answer them in a way that could be misconstrued or taken out of context. He was desperate to save and they were desperate to condemn. Had to be frustrating to the Pharisees. They questioned him about everything.

You have to appreciate their tenacity and the sneaky way they tried to entrap him. “Teacher, we know you are a man of integrity and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You aren’t swayed by men, because you pay no attention to who they are.”  (Matthew 22:16)

See, they knew he stuck to the script and that he was not intimidated by anyone. The disciples weren’t always helpful either. They were still worried about who was the greatest and who would get to sit beside Jesus in heaven. They were still missing the point on some things. Jesus was running out of time. Do you think the human part of him worried who he was leaving in charge of getting the word out when he was gone?
