Satisfied. That is what we are striving for, right? If you could just get to…everything would be great. Then you could relax.
I don’t want to be content in that way. I want to be content the way Paul was content. He says in Philippians 4:11 that he has “learned to be content whatever the circumstance.” He says he learned it. In looking up the Greek I discovered that using learned here shows that Paul has gained this knowledge of contentment through experience. Keep in mind he was writing from prison. Content in prison. I have never been to prison (and surely I will never be) but I think that I would not be content. But Paul is saying that he has learned to be content in all circumstances because God has been faithful in all circumstances. He has grown accustomed to contentment. He has learned from practice. He is in the habit of contentment.
This is a life skill I need. I want to be used to contentment because I know that it comes from the faithfulness of God. I need to be in the habit of relying on God to give me what I need. At all times. Even in the hard.
Y’all. It’s Nothin But Fine.
